I
n the Shadow of the World Trade Center is a series that was shot during the 1970’s and ‘80’s -- a period of time when New Yorkers didn’t quite know what to make of the new physical intrusion on their southern skyline.
There wasn’t much architectural poetry to the Trade Center's presence; one building echoed the other without much grace or playfulness, nor visual allusion to their surroundings. And the more you disliked their assertion, the more you were aware that you simply could not get away from them...the Twin Towers were visible from absolutely every NYC neighborhood, and for miles around.....and they were here to stay, or so we assumed.
